The administration of Tri-Lakes Post 9-11 shall, except as may otherwise be provided by the Bylaws, be under the supervision of this Executive Committee comprised of the 5 Principle Officers and the Executive Board Members.

Principle Officers [1 year terms]

Michael Christensen
Post Commander

Post Commander presides at all meetings of the Post and Executive committee and has general supervision over the business and affairs of the post, and such officer shall be Chief Executive Officer of the post. The American Legion Officers Guide and an Agenda shall be used and followed by the presiding officer in conducting meetings, initiation of members, and other ceremonies prescribed therein. The commander shall perform such other duties as directed by the post.

Terri Carver
Senior Vice Commander

Senior Vice Commander is responsible for membership and retention. Should be familiar with the ceremonial protocol for regular meetings and assumes the duties of the office of the Commander in the absence or disability of the Post Commander, or when called upon by the Post Commander. Member of Executive Committee.

VACANT
Junior Vice Commander

Junior Vice Commander is responsible for building an atmosphere in which Legionnaires have fun while accomplishing the Post’s mission. Contacts other veterans and civic groups to verify each patriotic holiday and observance receives the respect it deserves. Helps run operations to spice up meetings and involve members in post activities. Fills social calendar with activities designed to engage members. Member of Executive Committee.

Michael Schwamberger
Finance Officer

The Finance Officer is responsible for all financial affairs of the Post and sees that all funds are safely deposited by self or bonded members in the Post’s bank account(s). Promptly remit national and department per capita fees and cards to Department headquarters. Reports once a month to the Executive Committee and post, the total income, cost of sales, expenses, accounts received, accounts payable, inventory, profit and loss statement, and any agreement concerning use of facilities. In charge of the year’s budget and given the duty of paying all obligations when proper authorization is given for such payment by the Executive Committee. Member of Executive Committee.

Post Adjutant

The Post Adjutant’s primary administrative officer for the post and like the first sergeant of a military unit. Personnel officer and personal point of contact for individual members of the post. Maintains membership records and minutes of meetings, checks up and assists the work of the other officers and committees, and publishes official orders, announcements and communications with post members. Keeps such records required by Department and National Headquarters. Needs ready access to all sources of information; thus, all post records should be maintained and accessible by the adjutant in a comprehensive filing system. Member of Executive Committee.

Past Commander

The Executive Committee is responsible for the government and management of the post is entrusted to the Executive Committee. Meets regularly or as often as the Post Commander deems necessary. Responsible for authorizing and approving all expenditures, requiring adequate bonds from those with custody of post funds, hearing reports of post committee chairpersons and providing oversight of post affairs. Does not usurp the powers of the membership through regular post meetings. Instead, this allows the routine operational affairs of the post to be handled outside of post meetings. Committee reports and other issues of general interest to members should be handled during post meetings.

Sergeant-at-Arms

The Sergeant-at-arms arranges the meeting hall, assists the Post Commander and Adjutant in preliminary meeting arrangements, preserves order at all meetings, and ensures new members are welcomed, introduced, and made to feel important to the Post. This person is the expert on flag etiquette and plays a leading role in the presentation and retirement ceremonies.

Jim Bergeron
Chaplain

The Chaplain provides moral and intellectual leadership and gives dignity and respect to the office. This person is in charge of the spiritual welfare of post members and offers divine but non-sectarian services for dedications, funerals, public functions, etc., by adhering to such ceremonial rituals as the National or Department Headquarters recommended.

Ray Kinder
Historian

The Historian works closely with the Post Adjutant to ensure Post records are maintained and available and takes photos of Post activities. Creates an annual historical record that identifies individual records and incidents of this Post and Post members.

Vern Kuykendall
Judge Advocate

The Judge Advocate provides professional advice in conducting post business or procuring proper counsel and is the guardian of the constitutional form of post-government. Supplies valuable assistance to other post committees and officers and should maintain contact with local government officials. This person has duty, with others, to audit post financial accounts annually, usually before the election of officers.

Service Officer

The Post Service Officer position requires a competent, dedicated, and organized person readily available to provide vital assistance. Responsible for bringing awareness to all veterans and their dependents of the rights and benefits granted by law. Must know how to access and use the expert services available through The American Legion, state and federal government agencies, and local community agencies.

The Post Games Manager is responsible for running the Post’s Bingo activities and ensuring volunteers are assigned and know their roles and responsibilities, and is responsible for the card machine.
